Open Call for Video Performance Works "Sonic Vibrations"
The Riga Performance Festival STARPTELPA invites artists to submit video performances for its upcoming edition, exploring the theme "Sonic Vibrations"
We are seeking video performance works that engage with sound and vibration as forces that carry memory, conflict, and connection across bodies, spaces, and time. Submissions are invited to explore sonic vibrations as carriers of heritage as a living, contested, and embodied process, rather than a fixed inheritance. We welcome works that work with resonance and dissonance, with echoes, silences, and interruptions, where sound becomes a means of re-performing histories and sensing unfinished pasts and possible futures. We welcome video performances across various formats, including:
Video recordings of live performances (documentation of performances), including full performances or excerpts.
Performances created specifically for the camera, conceived as standalone video works.
Recorded versions of web-based or online performances, adapted for video presentation.
Please note: As a state-funded and non-commercial initiative, the festival operates with limited funding and is unable to provide artist fees for submitted works.
Submission Details:
Duration: The maximum length for submissions is 15 minutes. If your piece exceeds this limit, you are welcome to submit a shorter excerpt.
Showcase Event: Selected video performance will be screened on May 27 at Cinema K. Suns as part of the Riga Performance Festival STARPTELPA 2026.
Selection Process: While we value all submissions, not all works may be included in the programme. If your piece is selected, we will contact you.
Copyright: Artists must own the rights to the submitted video performance.
Application Deadline: Submissions must be completed by March 15, 2026.
Announcement Date: The results will be announced by March 31, 2026.
